The Gospel in Chile Soaring Throughout South America

Now the light of the gospel is spreading all over the world and the people of all nations are flying into the arms of the New Jerusalem like clouds, like doves to their nests. In this prophetic age, we, members of the Chile Zion, are witnessing the gospel work being accomplished swiftly here in Chile, too. Instead of just witnessing it, we are all vigorously walking the way of the gospel as the protagonists of prophecy, looking forward to the day when we will meet Father and Mother.

I give thanks and praise to Elohim for having chosen this weak child from among the wise and the intellect in this world and led me to the way of blessing.

The dawn of the gospel that lights up the darkness

Chile, which is located in the southwestern part of South America, is famous for its territorial shape; it has a long and narrow territory that extends from north to south, so it takes four full days to drive from the southern end of the country to the northern end of it. The climate also varies with latitude. The northern part of Chile is mostly desert; it is one of the driest regions in the world, so there is hardly any animal or plant. On the other hand, the southern part is thickly wooded and it has high precipitation; in some regions, it rains all year round. The central area, where the Santiago Church is located, has four distinctive seasons; in summer it is hot and dry, but in winter it is very cold because of strong winds from the Andes and heavy rainfall.

Chile has such diverse natural environments, but it also suffers from natural disasters; earthquakes occur frequently. Fortunately, there has been no big earthquake since I came to Santiago, but until recently Chile had frequent earthquakes, big or small. In 1960, there was the most powerful earthquake ever recorded by seismologists and it caused extensive damage. As an aftereffect of the earthquake, a tidal wave arose and hit some countries in the Pacific Ocean—Japan and the Philippines—and killed hundreds of people. Last July, there were three strong earthquakes with magnitude over 5.0. However, most people here in Chile tend to regard earthquakes as occasional events. They are shocked when an earthquake occurs, but soon they forget about it.

Chile is a well-off country with a higher level of education. Especially, many intellectuals who studied abroad in Paris, France, for the last few centuries, have had a great influence on the Chileans, so they are very proud of their country, calling it the “Europe in South America,” and individualism also prevails. As the number of Christianity is dwindling in Europe, so the population of believers is drastically decreasing in Chile, a Catholic country. When I saw that they didn’t fear the earthshaking disasters and didn’t even think about finding their Savior, I was so heartbroken. However, I believed that surely there were the souls who had been waiting for Elohim who would protect them from disasters and give them the true richness of their souls. So we took vigorous steps to find our heavenly family members who were still staying in the darkness, earnestly crying out for the truth.

Only God’s word, only Mother

I carried out the mission of the gospel in Lima, Peru, for about four years from 2003. While experiencing the power of God who fulfills the prophecies amazingly, I was deeply touched and realized many things. In December 2006, I was sent by God to the Santiago Church located in the capital city of Chile.

The Santiago Zion was established in 2003. Chile and Peru have many things in common; they use the same language—Spanish, and both are also Catholic countries. So, I thought that it would not be so difficult to preach the gospel here in Chile, but I was wrong.
Just as Korea and Japan are very different even though they are the same Asian countries, Chile and Peru are totally different even though both are the same South American countries. Not to mention culture, the difference between them is revealed more distinctively when we preach the gospel. Unlike the Peruvians who are willing to listen to the words of the Bible, the Chileans have very little interest in the Bible, and most people are unwilling to give ear to the Word. Even though they stop to listen, they stubbornly refuse to admit the truth. Some people, although they say they are Catholic, take back their words soon and say, “I don’t believe in God,” just because they don’t want to receive the truth.

In this situation, I became impatient, thinking that the gospel work was being accomplished slowly. However, the gospel is fulfilled by God, not by men. In any culture and environment, the children of God listen to the voice of God and come to Him. So I asked Mother to help me not turn aside but keep myself upright to continuously carry out the gospel mission with firm faith. There were times when I thought, ‘In Peru, when I did things this way, the gospel work was done well . . . ,’ but I threw those thoughts away and tried to understand the local people as Apostle Paul did, saying, “I became like a Jew, to win the Jews.”

Thinking that I just started from the beginning again, I made every effort to deliver the love of Mother and put it into practice both inside and outside Zion. That’s because there is nothing better than Mother’s love to find our lost brothers and sisters and wake up sleeping souls.

Then a change occurred from Zion; the members, who had just hesitated to preach the gospel even though they wanted to, started to participate in preaching the Word after inscribing Mother’s sacrifice in their hearts. Tasting the true happiness of preaching, they bore fruit, and the souls who were led to Zion grew as gospel workers and put in effort to preach the gospel; this good cycle repeated all over again. There was no sudden change in our environment and no change in the local people’s thoughts. Without the power of God, how could I explain this amazing work?

Of course, we are still lacking in many ways. However, it is clear that by the grace of Father and Mother, our shortcomings are removed and we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and that the members’ faith and fervor burn hotter and hotter. Above all else, I am delighted that the prophetic heroes who will accomplish the gospel work in Chile are steadily produced.

Until the gospel workers grow up

In Korea, you can see Mother through various Church events and listen to Her voice directly, but all this is but a dream here. The members’ hearts are pierced with love and yearning for Mother. They always wish to meet Mother and make every effort to preach the gospel so that they can reduce Her burden of suffering. Finally, their dream is being realized; they visit Korea by the grace of God. When they return after experiencing Mother’s endless love and sacrifice, they try to follow Mother’s example and preach the gospel with an even more burning fervor, which breathes vitality into Zion. In addition to their enthusiasm, their humble attitudes and behaviors full of love, which resemble those of Mother, inspire the members to realize many things.

Among them, I would like to share the gracious story about Deacon Cesar. He was somewhat assertive and blunt. However, since he returned from his visit to Korea, he has totally changed; he always smiles, approaches the members first to greet them, and listens attentively to everyone with humility. He takes the lead in volunteering to do things for Zion, big and small, and tries to deliver even one more word of God to people. Now he pleases Mother by managing a house church, which is about one and a half hour away from Zion.

Deaconess Magdalena also sets a good example always through her gracious behaviors. She lost her parents at an early age, so she had a great yearning for her parents. After she received the truth, she participated in the gospel mission diligently, being touched by the love of our Heavenly Parents. At first she came to Zion by car, but it turned out that for a while she walked two or three hours to Zion with her child in her arms, because she suddenly fell into financial problems. She didn’t express her hardship, worrying that we would be concerned about her, so we came to know that fact after quite a while. God gave plenty of blessings to the deaconess with such a beautiful mind: She gradually became better off, so she was able to join the overseas visiting group to Korea. After meeting Mother, whom she had missed even in her dreams, and cherishing Mother’s love in her heart, she came back to Chile. Now she is making every effort to find our lost heavenly family members, putting the Teachings of Mother into practice more diligently.

In this age when individualism prevails and people’s love grows cold, the members who are surrounded by a warm fence called the “Teachings of Mother” put love into action, thinking of “us” first before “me” and being considerate of others. Since the members are changing so beautifully to resemble God, I believe that Father and Mother will bless them all with abundant good fruits.

Now let me talk about Brother Jose David. We met him on his way home after work, and he was reborn as a child of God that day. After listening to the Word, he was very moved and said, “It’s amazing to know Heavenly Mother!” and immediately received the truth. Then he preached the good news fervently and led his wife and children to Zion. Now he makes every effort to lead all his family to a new life, preaching the truth to his mother and siblings diligently.

Besides, there are many brothers and sisters who put into practice the love they’ve received from Mother, including Sister Andrea who faithfully carries out the mission of the gospel while taking care of her three children, always with gratitude and joy in her heart, and Deaconess Claudia who boldly preaches the gospel with her outgoing personality. I earnestly pray that all the members of the Santiago Church will receive a rich welcome into the kingdom of heaven.

From Santiago to all other regions of Chile

You may think that the longer you live abroad, the easier it becomes to adapt to life overseas, but that is not always the case. In my case, my yearning for home grows bigger, and my love for Mother becomes deeper and deeper. Even though I have stayed abroad for just several years, I miss my homeland and Mother so much. I could understand how Mother felt while walking the path of sacrifice and suffering on this lowly earth, having left all Her heavenly glory behind? Nevertheless, Mother always encouraged us with a smile. Whenever I think of Her, I feel so sorry and heartbroken.

The members of the Santiago Church want to please Mother and relieve Her pain. They know that the only way to make it possible is to find our lost brothers and sisters, so they are putting forth their utmost efforts to preach the gospel every day.

After going through many trials and errors, the Santiago Church has now achieved stability in the gospel by the grace of Father and Mother. Now, the only thing to do is to spread the good news throughout Chile—from the southern end of the country to the northern end of it. Chile is approximately three times larger than Korea and has many cities, where numerous people are waiting for the truth. We should hurry up and run to them to preach Elohim, who give us life and peace, and also the new covenant through which we can be saved from disasters.

Keeping this fact in mind, the Chilean brothers and sisters are preparing to go out to every region of Chile, sharpening the sword of God’s word diligently. Our first goal is to raise the banner of Zion in Valparaiso, one of the major harbors on the Pacific Ocean and the second largest city in Chile.

Of course, I know there will be many hardships until the light of the gospel spreads to all the cities. However, I believe that it will be surely done because God prophesied, “I will do it swiftly,” and gave His children wisdom and power, and also because there are faithful gospel workers who follow the word of God and put it into practice, with enthusiasm and endurance. Depending completely on God the Creator, we, God’s children at the Santiago Zion, will powerfully run the way of the gospel with one mind and light up every region of Chile with the glory of Mother. Thank You, Father and Mother!
