All the university student members in Korea gathered at the Okcheon Go&Come Training Institute before the new semester of the New Year started in order to participate in the Spring Semester Opening Service for University Students Nationwide 2015.
Every year, the Church of God holds the spring semester opening service for university students so that the students, who are preparing for their future, studying hard, can strengthen their faith and establish their values. On March 1, over 3,000 students attended the service and listened to the words of God, and also participated in various education programs. Through this, they took the first step in the campus life that began anew.

At the service, General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol emphasized practice. Through his sermon under the subject, The Fruit of Schemes, he preached: “All results come from our thoughts (Jer 6:16–19). Whatever we do, we must not hesitate at the thought that it’s impossible to fulfill, but put into practice what we have in mind with positive thinking. Then, it will be completed as Jesus said, ‘According to your faith will it be done to you.’ ”
After that, he delivered the news of the gospel that is rapidly spreading throughout the world, and asked the students to think over what they should do as the dew of the dawn in this age when numerous people around the world are in thirst for the truth. Then he encouraged them to live their campus life meaningfully by sharing the hope for heaven with their friends, juniors, and seniors.
After the service, the students who have been good models for others presented their experiences at university, explaining how they overcame their worries, trials and errors, and difficulties in their school lives until they obtained rewarding result physically and spiritually. Their honest and witty expression led the audience to laughs and agreement.
After the presentations of Korean university students, overseas university students’ activities were reported; they were passionately putting God’s love into practice. The report spotlighted the activities that give positive effect to their society as well as to their campus as the salt of the light of the world—helping typhoon victims, toy donation to children’s hospital, party for the elderly, blood drive, and the Bible seminar, which gave university students the direction to go forward in this age. After all the presentations, they watched an eye-catching video that awakened them to the angelic world, which scholars explained on the basis of scientific grounds.
Throughout the education, the students nodded with a big smile, saying, “We’re very thankful to start a new semester with the teachings of God.” Sister Kim Yu-jin (from Inha University) who was spending the last year in university expressed her thought, “Though I’d planned, I used to waste my time while worrying and hesitating. As I have my last year left, I will do my best not to leave regrets by practicing what is small first.” And she gave an affectionate advice to the juniors, “I hope they will all have awesome result by carrying out what they aimed and planned.” The freshmen, who were mixed with excitement and fear toward a new life, were determined and said, “While we were listening to the words of the Bible and seniors, vague worries vanished. We’ll live both our life of faith and school life meaningfully because once time gets lost, it never comes back.”
The sky that had scattered soft hail from the morning became clear soon and the sun beamed down on the students returning home. We hope that they will become more mature. May the blessing of God always be upon the senior students who have started a new semester, and the freshmen who have just stepped into the campus with high hopes!
